Baby Shower last Sunday - Baby Shower am letzten Sonntag

My running friend Helen hosted a shower for Hope last Sunday. Here a few pictures from last Sunday, they speak for themselves:

Meine Freundin Helen hat am letzten Sonntag einen Baby Shower fuer Hope veranstaltet. Hier ein paar Bilder, sie sprechen fuer sich selbst:

We are back home - Wir sind wieder zuhause!

Well, we made it! The flight back was rather uneventful, Hope slept in the sling for about 10 hours, which was great and she even slept for about 8 hours that same night (we put her to bed at around 9:30pm) so she is a good sleeper. The last few days were very busy, many visitors, a walk down to the Y to meet Steve's Coworkers and a baby shower yesterday (thanks Girlz, it was a great afternoon) hosted by one of my running friends. I forgot the camera but will post pictures once I got some. / Nun sind wir also wieder zuhause. Der Flug war nicht sehr aufregend, Hope hat in der Hoppediz Trage circa 10 Stunden geschlafen und in der Nacht zuhause dann nochmal 8 Stunden, sie hat einen guten Schlaf. Die letzten paar Tage waren sehr gefuellt, viele Besucher, ein Spaziergang zum YMCA, wo wir Steve's Kollegen Hope vorstellten und ein weiterer Baby Shower den eine meiner Lauffreundinnen organisier hatte. Ich werde noch ein paar Bilder reinstellen, sobald ich sie habe.

Here is the little mouse chewing on her first, held-with-her-own-hand (organic) teething cookie. She loves those and when there is only one little soggie piece left, she drops it and Nero eats the rest. He is such a good dog, when Hope cries, he hides because he doesn't know how to help. She crawled up on him (which he normally hates) but he was all patient and let her do it. He just knows that she is there to stay, we just have to give him some
extra love. / Hier ist die kleine Maus mit ihrem ersten selbst gehaltenen Keks. Sie mag diese Kekse (fuer's Zahnen) sehr gerne und laesst den letzten durchgeweichten Rest auf den Boden fallen, wo Nero ihn finden kann. Er ist so ein guter Hund, wenn Hope weint, versteckt er sich, da er nicht weiss, wie er ihr helfen kann. Er hat ihr sogar erlaubt auf ihn drauf zu steigen, was er normalerweise gar nicht mag. Er weiss, dass sie jetzt ein Familienmitglied ist, wir muessen ihm halt ein bisschen extra viel Liebe geben, was ja kein Problem ist.
Here is Nero singing with Eddie's play on the Chines flute, it was hilarious, he just decided to sing along without us telling him.
I am obviously not over the jetlag yet, sitting here at 3am in the morning. Maybe I will have another morning nap like yesterday while I still have Steve at home to look after Hope./
Hier ein Bild von Nero wo er zu Eddie's Floetenspiel auf der chineschen Floete singt, er hat sich einfach entschlossen zu singen ohne dass wir es ihm sagen mussten. Ich kaempfe immer noch mit dem Jetlag jetzt um 3 Uhr morgens... Vielleicht kann ich am Morgen nochmal ein kurzes Schlaefchen halten so lange Steve noch zuhause ist und auf Hope aufpassen kann.

The Great Wall of China - Die chinesische Mauer

Wow, ich habe schon lange nichts mehr gesehen was mich so beeindruckt hat, da fehlen einem wirklich die Worte...Wir sind jetzt also in Beijing (Peking) seit Freitag und ich kam einfach nicht dazu mich an den Computer zu setzen, wir haben hier volles Programm. Es ist einfach unbeschreiblich. Erstmal die Erfahrung auf einmal ein kleines Kind zu haben, das uns erstmal kennenlernen muss (und wir sie) und dann in einem so beindruckenden Land mit einer Sprache, von der man absolut nichts versteht...Das Essen ist klasse, wir geniessen es in vollen Zuegen (Steve und ich lieben ja asiatisch). Steve hat Chongqing besser gefallen, Beijing ist mehr westlich und sie haben die Stadt wie verrueckt aufgeraeumt wegen der Olympischen Spiele. Heute haben wir auch das sogenannte Vogelnest gesehen (das Stadium), echt Wahnsinn. So, mehr wenn wir zurueck sind, hier schon mal ein paar Bilder:

Wow, I think this must be the most impressing thing I have ever seen in my whole life, I can't really put it into words. I will put up a few pictures which don't really do the Great Wall any justice. We have been in Beijing for three days now and I just didn't get the chance to sit at the computer, there is so much happening. It is simply overwhelming. All of a sudden there is this new little weetie in our life that has to get to know us (and we her) and then this impressive country with a language that is soooo different from any language I know. The food is just awesome, we love Asian food and Steve was so impressed by Chongqing, he was bubbly. Beijing is more western and everything gets cleaned up for the Olympics. We saw the birds nest today (tre stadium), incredible....Now, once we are back, more of the over 400 pictures that we already took.....here are just a few:

On Gotcha Day with Hope

Hope ist jetzt offiziell unsere Tochter / Now Hope is our daughter officially

Gestern waren wir im Adoptions Buero in Chongqing und haben unsere offizielle Adoptionsurkunde bekommen, jetzt sind wir offiziell Hope's Eltern! Das war schon eine Erleichterung, hat alles super geklappt. Als wir dann zum Hotel zurueckkamen war die Kleine sehr unleidlich und ich musste mit ihr auf dem Arm rumlaufen. Sobald ich stehengeblieben bin oder mich hingesetzt habe, ging das Weinen wieder los. Sie bekommt Zaehne und hat Schmerzen, da weiss man gar nicht was man machen soll. Zum Glueck hat Steve ein homeopathisches Mittel dabei, das hilft sehr gut. Hier ist die kleine Maus heute morgen nach circa 12 Stunden schlafen in unserem supergrossen Hotelbett. Ich werde nur noch ein paar Bilder reinstellen, da der Computer hier superlangsam ist.

Yesterday we were at the adoption office in Chongqing and received our officiel adoption certificate, now we are officially Hope's parents! It was somewhat relieving that everything went really smooth. When we came back to the hotel, Hope was super fussy and I had to carry her around in the room, could not stop or sit otherwise the big sobbing started again. She is teething and is in pain, luckily Steve brought some homeopathics for it which help really well. This picture was taken after about 12 hours of sleep last night in our king size hotel bed. I will only upload a few more pics, the computer here is verrry slow.

Tomorrow / Morgen

Eigentlich wollte ich ja Bilder von dem Baby Shower, (ein Brauch hier in Kanada bei dem die werdende Mutter mit Geschenken ueber'duscht' wird) den unsere Nachbarn fuer uns gegeben haben posten, aber mein Mann hat leider vergessen mir die Bilder zu emailen, daher keine Bilder....
Das Wetter hier in Kanada ist superschoen, meine Eltern sind gerade zu Besuch und ich glaube sie haben es richtig genossen. Gestern waren es circa 32 Grad.
So, jetzt muessen wir noch alles, was in Hope's Zimmer auf dem Boden rumliegt, in Koffer packen, den Kindersitz in's Auto montieren, und dann sind wir bereit. Um 12 Uhr mittags morgen muessen wir am Flughafen sein. Ich hoffe, dass ich in China auf den Blog zugreifen kann, sonst muss ich Bilder halt reinstellen, wenn wir zurueck sind.

I planned on posting pictures from the first of 5 baby showers that we will be given but my hubbie forgot to email them to me.... Anyway, our neighbours from England hosted it for us and it was lovely. My parents from Germany are visiting and over there we don't have that custom, so they were astounded. My dear friend Sandra was able to be there too (thanks Sandy, I was REALLY happy to see you :-) with her little one (still growing inside) and the weather was just gorgeous so that we sat outside until late.
Now, we just have to pack all the schtuff that is sitting in Hope's room on the floor into suitcases and put the car seat into the car and then off to the airport tomorrow at 12 noon.
I so hope that we can access the blog in China to post pictures, if not, you will have to wait until we get back.
